I made contact with Christine when I was at a low ebb. My anxieties were getting the better of me and my sleep patterns were completely erratic. Chris introduced me to CBT in a manner both sympathetic and straightforward. She is not judgemental, listens with great care and enabled me to reflect upon the root of my anxiety and, very importantly, to discover ways of turning my thinking in a far more helpful direction. Over five or six sessions we explored and examined the evidence that led me to make certain judgments, the onus for a solution always being with me: Chris will be very clear, only the individual can resolve his/ her issues, but she (Chris) will teach the strategies and provide the tools that will enable this. I was recommended CBT by a friend of mine after suffering from low self esteem and anxiety issues following a past situation at work. After many years of counselling I was somewhat sceptical, but knew I needed to give it a go. I am glad to say though that my fears were unfounded.
Chris has taught me some wonderful techniques in handling these negative thoughts and has enabled me to see for the first time in many years what I have to offer. These techniques will no enable me to move forward in life and leave the negatives behind.

Before coming to see Chris my outlook on myself wasn’t good. I didn’t realise how clouded my judgement was and how wrong it was. I decided I needed to make changes to myself and to find a way of stopping my relationship with my 9 year old son deteriorating further and before the damage was too deep. After speaking to a few councillors I decided that Chris was the right person to help me. As it turned out, the relationship with my son was only one element of the things in my world that were hindered by my own negative thinking. Areas that included my marriage, work and how previous relationships and experiences had effected the way I not only dealt with things but how I looked at myself as a mother, wife, friend and professional. Losing my mum in 2012 was hard after a 9 year battle with cancer, but then losing my brother fourteen months later in 2013 to the same horrible disease, was beyond comprehension. I knew I would need help to cope mentally, as I was my brothers main carer. I knew about CBT and had done a course back in the 1990’s. Finding Chris was a God send. I wish I’d found someone like Chris to talk to years ago! I was really scared sending her the first email, but I’d reached a point where I just wanted to stop thinking the way I thought. I was tired of being so negative about myself and fed up of hiding away and avoiding as many social situations as I could. I found her online and when I saw ‘Everyone deserves to be happy’ written on her site, I made myself send her a note. I needn’t have been scared though – from our first meeting, Chris was welcoming, kind and friendly – and after a few sessions with her, I stopped feeling embarrassed and guilty about the things I was saying out loud. Things that I had never said out loud to anyone before. I can’t really explain how or why talking to someone like Chris works, it just does. I have a better understanding of why I am the way I am, but instead of feeling frustrated and confused like I did, I feel more accepting of everything. I feel better prepared to deal with things that will be thrown at me in the future, and less inclined to hide away. And I’ve learnt that I can change the way I think – it is possible – and that alone is having a really positive impact on my life. Chris helped me get through a particular stressful time at work. She helped me prepare for a presentation which I was dreading. I now find I can present in front of many people with much more confidence. Using the tools she has given me to analyse situations I have reduced my stress levels at work to an almost a nonexistent level. It took just six sessions. I would thoroughly recommend talking with Chris if you feel that stress is affecting your life. Some simple methods of evaluation can break the cycle and you’ll be able to think rationally. I’m in a much happier place now.

Chris gave me back my life she taught me to look at my worries from a different angle and helped me stop the constant mind chatter going on in my head. CBT helps to unravel the old patterns of thinking you have that does’t let you move on from past traumas and gives you strategies to use in the future. From a male perspective …I came to sort out anger management and in depth work found it was much deeper.I’ve learnt the root cause, it’s not because I am angry about , x , y or z; it’s because of a fear. CBT is involved in everything. Chris has fine tuned my brain to break things down and re-evaluate. It’s about triggers in life, you can’t predict what’s going to happen; I use it now in everything I do. You have to be open and receptive.

I came to Chris at a very low ebb in my life with family problems that seemed unsolvable. It transpired I had been in this negative loop for probably most of my life. I met Chris at a very low point in my life and remember telling her that I wanted to ‘go on a holiday from myself’. I wasn’t happy with who I was and didn’t feel able to control, or cope with, the external events that were having a negative effect on me at the time. With the help of Chris and CBT techniques I have turned this round. I learned how to have more self esteem and now feel very happy with myself and the decisions I make, even if sometimes thing go wrong. I feel so much better able to cope with external events and problems with the help of simple tools that are now very much part of how I think about myself and the world.
